The Manila Bar Sadly Closes For The Last Time

An expat café bar that has been extremely popular with expat residents from all countries and tourists has closed it’s doors for the last time. According to some of the locals, the Manila Bar in Los Boliches never fully recovered financially from the effects of the Covid pandemic, added to that were fines the town hall imposed due to work being required to bring the facilities up-to-date.

The work needed on the toilets and wheel chair access, along with the terrace modernisation required by the town hall in Fuengirola, calls for a massive investment that seemingly the owners are not prepared- or just cannot afford- to spend.

The Manilla Bar has changed ownership many times over the years (at one time it was a buffet ‘all you can eat’ restaurant) and opened way back in 1984. After speaking to a staff member it was clear that the decision to close was not taken lightly and “other bars along the paseo will find things a bit busier from now on”.
