Charred corpse with knife in chest found in Mijas van fire

A corpse, with a knife stuck in the chest, was found during the early hours of Friday, march 22, inside a van engulfed in flames. The body has already been transferred to the Legal Medicine Institute of Malaga (IML) for autopsy and identification of the deceased person. The Guardia Civil, on the other hand, has already opened an investigation to try to clarify the facts.

It was 4:25 a.m. when the Emergency Service 112 Andalucia received a call alerting of a van on fire in an empty lot in the El Chaparral area. Immediately, the coordinating center mobilized Local Police officers and firefighters from Mijas, who found the charred body, notified the Guardia Civil, and extinguished the fire.

In this way, Guardia Civil officers from the Mijas Post went to the scene, confirming that indeed inside the camper van, located in El Faro de Calaburra, there was a corpse with signs of violence. The agents notified the judicial team, and the body was removed. The Armed Institute reports that they are conducting an ongoing investigation and state that, at the moment, no arrests have been made.

Man dies in Torremolinos cells

It is worth remembering that last weekend, a detainee for an alleged gender-based violence crime in Torremolinos was found dead in the cells of the National Police station in that locality. It was planned for him to remain in the cell until appearing in court, and for the competent authority to decide whether to release him or send him to prison. But, there wasn’t enough time. He was 30 years old and of Irish origin, as confirmed by police sources.

According to sources close to the investigation, preliminary autopsy results determined that the cause of death is related to pulmonary edema. However, the final conclusions are pending additional toxicological studies to determine the origin of the pulmonary edema he suffered.
