The fire that started in Mijas, Malaga, in the early hours of Sunday morning has been declared as extinguished

A massive fire that began on Sunday, November 12 at around 4.00am, in Los Condes which quickly spread to the area of Valtocado, has been declared extinguished by INFOCA, an organisation set up by the regional government of Andalucía to combat fires.

The strong gusts of wind on Sunday, with peaks of 75-80 kilometres per hour “made the fire very dangerous”, which was declared level 1 by the INFOCA plan.

Around 300 people were evacuated from their homes as a precautionary measure but has since been allowed to return.

A total of 6 aerial vehicles, 180 firefighters and 8 fire engines from INFOCA worked relentlessly to put the blaze out, as well as fire crews from Mijas, Marbella, Fuengirola and Benalmadena and the Malaga Provincial Fire Brigade Consortium.

The origin of the fire, which has burnt 250 hectares of land, remains unknown and is under investigation.
