Torremolinos Goes ‘Barking Mad’ as Expocan Welcomes 1,500+ Dogs and 200 Breeds for a ‘Pawsitively Amazing Weekend’

Margarita del Cid, the mayor of Torremolinos, along with the Councillor for Sports, Ramón Alcaide and the vice president of the Canine Society of the Costa del Sol, Miriam Villalta, announced that the Expocan 2023 International dog fair, will be hosted in the town weekend.

“The estimate is that on November 18 and 19, the Torremolinos Conference Centre will host a conference in which more than 1,500 dogs of two hundred different breeds will participate.

An event that will also generate an impact of more than one million euros, which reflects the importance of this type of event and congress tourism in general,” said the mayor of Torremolinos, Margarita del Cid.

This international dog fair will have different exhibitions, activities, competitions and exhibitions, an event that will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. A link to the show schedule is provided below.

“The event has an extensive program of activities, but allow me to highlight, among the novelties, the participation of the canine section of the National Police of Malaga, which will hold an exhibition on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.,” added the mayor.

In addition, throughout the weekend there will be sociability tests, SocialDog, agility exhibition, demonstration of work with a guide dog, dog education workshops and training or parade of presenters, numerous activities to help enjoy and spread dog culture and the skills of the dogs. Expocan will also have monographic competitions for different breeds such as the Andalusian Podenco, Weimaraner, Retriever, Dachshund or Poodle.

Admission to the general public will be free to encourage the participation of the maximum number of people who will be able to participate in the various activities that will be launched. All dogs entering the premises must have a micro chip implant and have a valid vaccination passport. This objective of the dog fair is to showcase the best products and services for the care of pets to the public, lovers of pets, while at the same time raising awareness about responsible ownership and care. The show aims to provide and present breads from a functional aspect and their historical heritage.

The Canine Society of the Costa del Sol, promoter of the event, is a non-profit association, in charge of promoting the different dog breeds and the love of dogs in general. Click on the above link to access the full show schedule.
