Fire in Mijas

Despite appearing abandoned, the warehouse was ablaze today, Thursday, March 7, prompting authorities to evacuate nearby residences. The town council also reported road closures affecting the Pueblo Don Silverio and La Loma neighbourhoods.

The Emergency Service 112 Andalucía received approximately 70 calls reporting a fire in a warehouse located in the La Loma housing estate, specifically at Plaza del Algarrobo, at kilometre 3.650. Immediately, coordinated efforts led to the mobilisation of firefighters from Mijas, Fuengirola, and Benalmádena. Local police, the Guardia Civil, Civil Protection, and medical services (061) also responded.

While no injuries have been reported so far, medical teams remain on-site until the fire is fully extinguished, in case anyone suffers from smoke inhalation or other related issues.

Currently, the scene is being attended to by two ladder trucks, five fire engines, and over 20 firefighters. Although the fire has been contained, it has not yet been completely extinguished. The intense heat from the fire, whose cause remains unknown, has caused the warehouse roof and walls to collapse. Additionally, it has consumed construction materials such as scaffolding and pallets, as well as two vehicles, generating a large column of smoke.
