A man with a restraining order killed his two daughters in a village in Almería, Spain, and then committed suicide

The father of the minors was arrested by police in May 2022 after his partner reported gender-based violence. The Guardia Civil are investigating the alleged murder of two girls aged two and four, as well as the subsequent death of their father, aged 35 and of Romanian origin, through the use of some type of poison in the hamlet of Las Alcubillas de Alboloduy (Almería), in what is being investigated as a possible vicarious crime since the mother of the girls, included in the Viogén system, had a restraining order against the father.

Sources close to the investigation have confirmed that the events that took place on Sunday night in this scattered area, inside a house, most of which belongs to the municipality of Gérgal although the events would have taken place in the area belonging to Alboloduy.

The Guardia Civil has indicated that based on the evidence found at the scene, the most likely hypothesis is that the cause of death is from ingestion of a poisonous substance, although it has been pointed out that we will have to wait for the autopsy of the three bodies.

Therefore, the investigation continues open and the line that has gained more strength according to the evidence available so far is that the man would have killed his young daughters before ending his own life.

It was around 10:30 p.m. on Sunday when the authorities received a call. In this regard, it would have been the mother of the girls, separated from their father and of Romanian origin, who would have found the lifeless bodies in the farmhouse when she went to pick them up, as they had spent the weekend with their father.
THE MOTHER, IN THE VIOGÉN SYSTEM

On the other hand, the Government Sub-delegate in Almería, José María Martín, has confirmed that the mother of the minors, aged 23, was included in the protection system for victims of gender-based violence, Viogén. “It is an element that must be considered in the investigation,” he stated in statements to the media.

Specifically, according to sources close to the investigation, the man was arrested in May 2022 after a complaint from the woman, who, while pregnant, allegedly suffered some form of physical violence. At the time, the man had a restraining order in force against the mother of the minors, but not against the minors themselves.

The Government Sub-delegate in Almería has expressed “deep sadness” at this news while highlighting the investigative work being carried out by the Civil Guard, expressing caution until all the details of the case can be confirmed.

Meanwhile, the President of the Provincial Council of Almería, Javier Aureliano García, has also conveyed the “consternation” caused by this case and, through a post on the social media platform ‘X’, has conveyed the “solidarity of the people of Almería” to the family and residents of the municipality.
